Colorado volunteers on a medical mission in war-torn Ukraine have been getting an up-close look at the reality of life in a war-torn country as volunteers with Global Care Force.

Russia attacked Kyiv, Ukraine, with a sophisticated combination of missiles and drones Wednesday, for the first time in 73 days. Air raid warnings lasted for hours throughout the country. But a pair of medical volunteers from Colorado were undeterred by the threat.

Leanna Stoufer never imagined herself working on the ground in Ukraine, helping victims of a violent war that has stretched on for nearly 1,000 days. But she’s in that country right now, for the third time, trying to improve the lives of trauma victims.

On the same day Russian bombs, drones and missiles smashed into southern Ukrainian cities, killing six and injuring 30 others, a medical volunteer from Colorado was hard at work in the war-torn country.
